followed by a private cremation.
The wake will then be at the Maroubra Seals Club. I am not sure of times etc. at this
early stage.
Do NOT listen to rumour about the circumstances surrounding this terrible tragedy.
Jason was a great man and a great cop and this is time to celebrate his life and pass on
condolences to his family.
Good Morning Off-duty.
It is my solemn duty to report to you the passing of Sgt Jason Baker, a member of the New
South Wales Police Force.
Jason passed away in his sleep in the early hours of the 13th of January 2014. The reason
is unknown. It has been reported that his daughters found him passed away around
9.00am.
Jason was in his mid 40’s. A real aussie larrikin. His work as a police officer was first class,
as was his commitment to the team. He was mentor and friend to many young police
officers. He made the workplace a great place to be. He will be missed.
He leaves behind three daughters and his wife Ali. He was their rock.
I first met Jason and his family when they arrived in Broken Hill some years ago. Jason
was stationed in the country town of Walgett at the time of his death.
